Blue Stone Studios found its start fifteen years ago, after Courtney Major opted to lend her creativity and spunky spirit to the field.
A Weatherford, Texas native, Courtney received a Bachelor’s degree in Science from Southwest Texas State. However, after 10 years as a chemist, she decided it was time to find a better outlet to suit her personality, and her uncanny knack for finding art in every setting.
Although she still has the spirit of a Texas gal, Courtney made the move to Kansas City nearly 20 years ago. Along the way she married her rock and roll hubs, Ron, and they have two sons who frequently star in her shoots: Hendrix (9) and Halen (7), along with Stella; the Major’s rescued, furry and faithful companion.
You can almost always find Courtney outdoors, but after a series of back surgeries, she’s found her spot behind the camera suits her best, although she hasn’t slowed down much at all.
Her years of shooting and staging has allowed her to hone her skills, while building an incredible portfolio comprised of creations that resemble art more than photos, and will proudly stand the test of time for generations to come.
There’s nothing she can’t do, including a wide array of corporate events, seniors, children, and family portraits, as well as niche shoots including boudior, composition art, genealogy pieces, themed shoots, headshots, and newborn sessions.
Courtney’s love for KC has proved fruitful, not only for the art she’s already lended the region, but also in helping her curate a full-range of scenic and studio locations to bring any project to life.
While she’s not creating memories at the KC Rennaissance Festival, in the form of Faerie, Knight, and whimsical toadstood-clad photos over the past eight years, she also volunteers for local remembrance photography nonprofit, Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep.
Bluestone Studios has also been recognized as a “Best of Pros” company on Thumbtack for the last three years.
You’ll feel at ease and showcased beautifully in no time, while making a friend in the process.
